With the success of Canon HDSLR reaching major TV productions such as House, Saturday Night Live, The Jay Leno Show and even major motion pictures, these sessions will help shed some light on what a professional image maker needs to consider when entering the world of HDSLR video.
The Canon HD-DSLR Video Production Day consists of three segments: Video overview (input), Audio overview (sound) and Production overview (editing).
Segment 1: Basic Video Overview With a Canon HD-DSLR
11:00am - 1:00PM

Chicago-based Ed Meyers, along with Dallas-based Jerry Ward, two of Canon’s Pro Market Specialists, will give an in-depth introduction to using the new breed of HD-DSLR's for video creation.
Topics to be discussed will be:
Video terminology, frame rates, setting up your Canon camera properly, thoughts on editing, resolution, answer the question "What is a Codec?", accessories, lighting and exposure, tips and techniques for thinking in motion.

Segment 2: Audio and Sound
2:00pm - 4:00pm
How different are microphones? What are the different types of connectors? What do I look for when
choosing a microphone? How do I import sound into Final Cut Pro or other editing programs? Ohio-based audio expert Steve Savanyu from Audio-Technica will present just about everything you need to know about recording audio and how to mix it with video. Steve will be showing the most popular recording devices on the market along with all of their accessories. During this segment we will record audio track that will be incorporated into the final segment of the day. Visit Audio-Technica at http://www.audio-technica.com.
Segment 3: Editing (puting it all together)
6:30pm - 8:30pm
The goal of this segment is to shoot and produce a 30-second commercial starting from scratch. A small set will be shot using three cameras from different angles. Video will be captured using DSLR’s along with various methods of audio input. Jason Whitbeck of Dallas-based Yes Go Productions will then import video clips into Final Cut Pro and incorporate music, still photos as well as voiceover audio and then show some special effects. The final result will be a commercial ready for delivery. Watch how ideas come together in a real production scenario.
