Canon 5D M2 Video Tricks
Published in Untagged by chrisr
A few Canon 5D MarkII Video tricks we have learned.
The main one is related to being able to lock down an f/stop. We have been using older style nikon lenses that have the f/stop ring, using a nikon to canon ring adapter ($25). You can get fancy and pull the ball bearing out of the f/stop ring - which allows smooth f/stop ramping. This is really the only safe way to lock in a desired f/stop that we have found.
Editing: I have been converting all my 5D footage to Apple ProRes, (read previous post)
For follow focus - we have been using a follow focus rig from Zacuto, it rocks and you can purchase it so that it will work with a RED system also.
If you need help with your video projects, let us know as we have been working a lot with the 5DM2 and the Red One, and are constantly learning new tricks. Here is a link to a project that we edited right when this camera came out, before we had learned all this stuff.
